The essay is based on the manuscript for the presentation I gave at the symposium. It describes visual strategies in Jonathan Safran Foer's Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close“ (2005), connecting them with their tradition in literature, showing the selfreflexivity of the text and providing a, if not the only, useful approach to analyzing them: as visualizations of trauma and at the same time as attempts to overcome the trauma by binding it in a narrative.Downloads
