Author Biographies

  • Selina Foltinek, University of Bayreuth

    Selina Foltinek is a PhD candidate at the University of Bayreuth. Her dissertation project is titled  "Knowledge and Agency in Queer Women’s Semi-Autobiographical Narratives (1859-1987)" for which she spent two months at Duke University in 2022 (Post-Graduate Research Fellowship of the Bavarian American Academy). Her research interests include gender and queer studies, postcritique, knowledge production, and US-American literatures from the 19th and 20th century. From 2019-2022, Selina was a research assistant in the DFG-funded project “The Economy and Epistemology of Gossip in late 19th and early 20th-Century US American Literature and Culture."  Since 2022, she has been working as a teacher (English, History, Social Sciences).

  • Mascha Helene Lange, University of Leipzig
    Mascha Helene Lange graduated from the University of Leipzig in 2018 (B.A. American Studies and Staatesexamen für Höheres Lehramt/M.A. equivalent). Having worked as a graduate teaching assistant at American Studies Leipzig subsequently, she received a grant for pre-doctoral research (Pre-Doc Award) from the Research Academy Leipzig in 2019. In 2020, she continued teaching at American Studies Leipzig, and since July 2020 holds a PhD-scholarship from the Hans-Böckler-Foundation. Her dissertation project investigates transmedia negotiations of gendered violence in contemporary US-American literature and culture.
  • Florian Zitzelsberger, Universität Passau
    Florian Zitzelsberger is a PhD candidate in American Studies at the University of Passau, Germany, whose research is situated at the intersections of queer theory, performance studies, and narrative theory. His dissertation contributes to the field of queer narrative theory via a study of metaleptic moments in the American film musical. Florian's work has been published in journals like Amerikastudien/American Studies“, Comparative American Studies“, Humanities“, and The Journal of Narrative Theory“. He is co-editor of "Posthuman Drag," a special issue of Queer Studies in Media & Popular Culture“.
